New Tomatoes for Schweikert Greenhouse 2014

This year we are adding some new tomato varieties including some new heirloom varieties as well as some great new varieties. Here are some of our new varieties for 2014.

Grapette Hybrid
Grapette
Thin-skinned and juicy, with a distinctive flavor and shape. Oblong fruits weigh 1/3 to 1/2 oz. each, in clusters of 16 to 40 fruits. Ideal for America’s current preference for smaller, gourmet-type tomatoes.

Lemon Boy
Lemon Boy
Lemon Boy hybrid is an eye-catching tomato with wonderful color and flavor. The deep globe fruit is slightly tangy, but also sweet and mild, meaty, and smooth—perfect for slicing. Adds visual interest to the garden! Vines grow rather tall, so be sure to stake or cage the plant.

Sunchocola
Sunchocola
This gorgeous cherry tomato is a vast improvement over the heirloom tomato Chocolate. Sunchocola fruit has more smoky, sweet flavor, juicier texture and lower acid. Productive, dark green, indeterminate plants produce clusters of 8-12 fruits measuring 1″ wide x 1/5″ long and weighing slightly more than an ounce.
